For this installation, Mikebrain.xyz screen printed t-shirts and sold them at a physical pop-up store. A send off for a year of events, this pop-up itched the urge we all have to open up a physical retail space.
The space was designed and placed in a garage. The space tried to encourage participants to hangout for a little bit. There was a sitting area with chairs and a bench, as well as a table with a chess board and magazines. Decorations included a Macintosh computer sitting on top of a plastic chair, a test print, and also a Macintosh print on a vintage A Bathing Ape t-shirt. While a lot of thought went into how the space impacts the t-shirts. Ultimately this event wasn’t about selling t-shirts and more about building a store. Mikebrain.xyz can now say that had a physical retail space, for one day, in May of 2025.
Only two t-shirts were sold at the event. The ‘mikebrain.xyz Macintosh’ t-shirt and the ‘concrete instances’ t-shirt (SHOP).
This was an important event in practicing DIY initiatives. But doing it yourself doesn’t mean doing it alone.
